Natasha Meli Daudey

Natasha Meli Daudey is Malta’s new Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Austria. She is also the Permanent Representative of Malta to the Organisation of Security and Cooperation in Europe, to the United Nations and to the International Organisations based in Vienna.

Prior to this appointment Ms Meli Daudey has served as Malta’s Ambassador to Poland and non-resident Ambassador to Georgia, Moldova, Belarus and Armenia. Ms Meli Daudey is a career diplomat. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 2 April 2001, as a second secretary. During the first years of her career she worked mostly on multilateral affairs and followed relations with international institutions including UNESCO, the International Labour Organisation, the World Health Organisation, the Orangisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the International Parliamentary Union. She became First Secretary on 2 April 2003.

Prior to Malta’s accession to the European Union, in October 2003, Ms Meli Daudey was posted to the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union in Brussels where she served as Antici. In February 2008 Ms Meli Daudey was posted to Malta’s Embassy in France and in 2009 she was appointed Counsellor.

In 2014 Ms Meli Daudey was posted to Malta’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, where she served as Deputy Permanent Representative until July 2016. During her posting Ms Meli Daudey followed the works of the Security Council, and was Malta’s representative on the 1st and 4thCommittees. As Malta’s representative she was the Chair of the Working Group of the Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, and in this capacity organised several events with NGOs and civil society.

Ms Meli Daudey graduated in International Relations (Hons) from the University of Malta, in 1999. The year after she read a Master’s Degree in European Politics and Administration, at the College of Europe, in Bruges, from where she graduated in 2000. In 1996/7 she obtained the Diplome d’Hautes Etudes en Français and the Diplome d'Etudes Supérieures from

the Alliance Française.

Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms Meli Daudey effected an internship with the European Commission, and had a brief experience in journalism. Between 2002 and 2003 she was a visiting lecturer on Euro-Mediterranean relations at the European Documentation and Research Centre.

Ms Meli Daudey speaks French and Italian, has good knowledge of German and basic knowledge of Arabic, Spanish, and Polish. She is married with two children.
