H.E. Ahmed Alattar
Ahmed Alattar is the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Ahmed Alattar was born in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in 1986. He graduated from Khalifa University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geosciences in 2009, before completing a master's degree in international security from the University College London and an EMBA from the Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) in France.
He began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as an Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He then worked there as Deputy Director for European Affairs (2018-2020) and Chief of Staff to the Foreign Minister (2020-2022).
He started his professional career in the energy company ADNOC. He then worked in a public foundation and founded various startups in London and Abu Dhabi.
He studied engineering for his bachelor's degree, completed a master's degree in international security from University College London and an MBA from the Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) in France.
In October 2022, Alattar presented his credentials as Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Federal Republic of Germany to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
His hobbies are reading, travelling, learning languages and cycling. He speaks English, Arabic, Italian, Spanish and German. Alattar resides in Berlin, Germany with his wife and two children.
History
United Arab Emirates was established in December 1971. Following the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) in 1976, the UAE opened its first Embassy in Bonn, the former capital of the FRG. The office building of the Embassy is located on the line and near the city center.
After the German reunification in 1990, Berlin became the capital of the FRG. In 2002, the UAE Embassy moved to Berlin and left an outpost in Bonn, which provides services to the UAE nationals and delegations visiting West Germany.
On Tuesday April 27th , 2004 in the presence of the former German Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (the then UAE Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs) inaugurated the official building of the UAE Embassy, which is located in the heart of Berlin near by the government ministries, federal and regional institutions, historic monuments and shopping centers.
The building of the UAE Embassy in Berlin is characterized by its style of Arabic and Islamic architecture. It has become a cultural monument, which attracts German interested citizens and a lot of tourists visiting Berlin. It is a message of love, kindness and tolerance from the UAE people to the friendly German nation and a symbol for friendship and co-operation between both countries.
