The Ambassador

Amb. Sithong Chitnhothinh

The ambassador of Laos People's Democratic Republic to Germany Sithong Chitnhothinh was accredited on the 4th of March 2015. He graduated from Jozssef Attila University in Hungary with a Bachelors Degree in Hungarian Language and Literature in 1985.

After his studies in 1986, Amb. Sithong Chitnhothinh became the Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1991, he was hired as the Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Laos PDR in Warsaw, Poland. The time between 1992-1993 he was the Charge’ d’ Affair; in 1994 Acting Director of European Division and Director of South-East Asia-Pacific and ASEAN Division; and the years between 1995-1999, he was the First Secretary and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Laos PDR in Bangkok, Thailand. From 1999 to 2001 Chitnhothinh he was the Deputy Director General of Asia-Pacific and Africa Department; 2002 Director General of Asia-Pacific and Africa Department.

From 2007 to 2012 Amb. Sithong Chitnhothinh was assigned to Japan as the Ambassador of the Laos People’s Democratic Republic. Before his present post as ambassador to Germany, he worked as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman, Director General of Press Department the years between 2012-2015.
