International Conference on Economics and Business Information

The city of Berlin was host to the International Conference on Economics and Business Information. It was held in the German National Library of Economics, and it took place from 19th to 20th of April. The main topics of such a conference dealt with economics and business information, as the title suggests, focusing in particular on staff development issues, event strategic development of new services, as well as content management in a digital age. Moreover, attention was paid to EBook Strategies, Research Data, Reshaping of Skills and structures, Current Research Information Systems (CRIS), and Research support and Open Access. The key-purpose of the conference was to bring together best practices from different countries, establishing a platform for stimulating discussion, exchanging opinions, and helping participants to improve and enhance their local services with a specific focus on economics. This 2-days event was an opportunity to share ideas and to help participants to improve and enhance local services. The main target group were librarians and other information specialists supporting researchers in Economics and Business Studies.

Among the different international guests, we find Liz Lyon, Visiting Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, Michele Mennielli, responsible for International Relations and Business Development at Cineca (Italian Consortium of University), Thomas Bourke, Economics Information Specialist at the European University Institute Library in Florence, and Mary Betts-Gray, Business Information Specialist in the Management Information and Resource Centre (MIRC) of Cranfield School of Management and she is also Freedom of Information Officer for Cranfield University. Additionally, two workshops on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) and EBook Strategies were held.
