Yemen Highlights Cultural Heritage and Tourism Potential at the Berlin Economic Forum 2026
Minister Mutte Ahmed Dammaj leads Yemen Session on cooperation and development
March 13th, 2026The Republic of Yemen’s cultural heritage and tourism potential were showcased during a dedicated session at the Berlin Economic Forum 2026, held in Potsdam from 3–5 March 2026. The event brought together international diplomats, scholars, students and business leaders to discuss pathways for global economic cooperation and sustainable development. Within this framework, the Yemen Session provided a platform to present the country’s rich cultural legacy and explore opportunities for international collaboration in culture, tourism, and economic growth.
The session was hosted by the ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy and featured H. E. Mutte Ahmed Dammaj, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Yemen, as the principal speaker. It was organized by H. E. Loai Yahya Abdulrahman Al-Eryani, Ambassador of Yemen to the Germany. Through presentations and discussion, participants examined how Yemen’s historical sites, traditions, and cultural industries could contribute to sustainable tourism and economic development when supported by international partnerships.
During his remarks, Minister Mutte Ahmed Dammaj emphasized the significance of Yemen’s cultural heritage as a foundation for national identity and a catalyst for future development. He highlighted the importance of preserving historic cities, traditional arts, and cultural landscapes, while also strengthening institutional cooperation with international partners. Ambassador Loai Yahya Abdulrahman Al-Eryani underscored the value of diplomatic engagement in promoting Yemen’s cultural assets abroad and encouraging constructive dialogue with governments, cultural institutions, and investors interested in supporting the country’s long-term recovery and development.
The Yemen Session also demonstrated the broader role of cultural diplomacy in fostering international understanding and collaboration. By presenting Yemen’s cultural and tourism potential within the context of the Berlin Economic Forum, the discussion illustrated how culture can serve as a bridge between nations, creating opportunities for dialogue, economic partnership, and knowledge exchange. Through initiatives led by the ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy and the diplomatic representation of Yemen in Germany, the session highlighted how cultural engagement can contribute to building trust, strengthening international relationships, and encouraging sustainable development strategies that respect and preserve cultural heritage.
