Where Gardening Meets Culture: Spring Festival in Berlin
Plants, performances, and workshops that transform the garden grounds
May 05th, 2026The Spring Festival: Late Spring returns to Treptow-Köpenick on May 9 and 10, 2026. An event that transforms one of Berlin’s oldest tree nurseries into a seasonal gathering space, bringing together horticulture, cultural programming, and family activities over a two-day weekend.
More than 100 exhibitors will be present, selling perennials, shrubs, herbs, and seasonal plants, along with seeds, tools, and garden accessories. A central attraction is the display of approximately 300 tulip varieties, including rare and heirloom cultivars sourced from international growers, arranged across the nursery grounds. In addition to the plant market, the program features scheduled gardening talks led by horticultural experts, live music performances on an outdoor stage, theatre acts, and a selection of regional food stalls offering prepared dishes and refreshments.
The 2026 edition introduces new cultural formats within the nursery setting. An art meadow in the barn district invites visitors to take part in open creative activities such as painting and crafting. A reading wagon placed in the green space offers a selection of gardening literature in a relaxed, outdoor setting, functioning as a temporary open-air reading room.
The festival also places emphasis on younger visitors. Storytelling sessions in the Black Barn, performances by the Monbijou Theatre, and a dedicated craft area form part of a structured children’s program designed to combine entertainment with hands-on activities.
Running from 09:00 to 18:00 on both days, the Spring Festival continues to position the Späth nurseries as a hybrid space where horticulture and cultural programming intersect. While rooted in plant cultivation and garden trade, the event increasingly operates as a public festival that connects gardening with art, performance, and community participation.
