Visit of the Greek Ambassador to the Greek Pavilion at the International Tourism Fair Vienna 2026
Greek embassy presence highlights tourism cooperation and national representation
February 05th, 2026The International Tourism Fair – Vienna 2026 was officially inaugurated at the Wien Messe exhibition center in Vienna, marking the commencement of a major international event for the tourism sector.
The opening ceremony included brief addresses by Ms. Sabine Kraus-Winler, responsible for Tourism and Leisure Services at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WKO), and Ms. Elisabeth Zehetner, State Secretary for Energy, Startups and Tourism at the Austrian Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Tourism.
The Fair brings together more than 430 exhibitors and is expected to attract over 70,000 visitors. Greece is represented through the presence of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), with a pavilion hosting the Regions of Central Greece, Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Ionian Islands and Crete, as well as the islands of Kythera and Skiathos, the Municipality of Paleochora Crete, the Panhellenic Camping Association, and the airline Sky Express.
Within the framework of the exhibition, the Ambassador of Greece in Vienna, Mr. G. Iliopoulos, toured the Greek pavilion accompanied by executives of the GNTO Vienna Office and the Embassy’s Office of Economic and Social Development. During the visit, he met with representatives of the participating Greek exhibitors and discussed prospects for the further development of bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.
The International Tourism Fair is being held in parallel with the Vienna Drive Motor Show, enhancing the overall scope and visibility of the event.
The active engagement of the Greek Embassy and national tourism stakeholders underscores Greece’s commitment to promoting its tourism offer and strengthening bilateral cooperation with Austria in the field of tourism.
