The Embassy of India in Berlin marked Vigilance Awareness Week from October 28 to November 3, 2024, by taking the Integrity Pledge, a commitment to uphold transparency, ethical practices, and accountability.

This annual observance is one of the participative vigilance initiatives led by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) as part of India’s ongoing efforts in the fight against corruption. Designed to build awareness and foster collaboration among stakeholders, Vigilance Awareness Week serves as a platform to bring together government agencies, citizens, and public officials, highlighting the necessity of ethics and transparency in governance and public administration.

Celebrated during the week that includes the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Vigilance Awareness Week reflects Patel’s legacy of integrity and unity. The CVC aims to promote a culture of vigilance, integrity, and proactive measures in eradicating corruption, actively involving citizens and officials in the process. In recent years, preventive vigilance initiatives have gained prominence, with campaigns leading up to the week encouraging efforts to prevent misconduct before it occurs.

In line with this theme, the officers and officials of the Embassy of India in Berlin joined hands in reaffirming their dedication to these principles by taking the Integrity Pledge. This act embodies the Embassy's commitment to transparent governance and a robust ethical framework, setting a high standard of public service for the Indian community in Germany and beyond.
