The Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, together with Viet Nam’s Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, has inaugurated a photo exhibition at Berlin’s Gardens of the World to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Germany.

The exhibition presents 50 striking photographs capturing the landscapes, people, and culture of Viet Nam. Works include contributions from Vietnamese photographers as well as German artist Götz Peter Reichelt. The collection is displayed in the shape of the letters “V-N,” symbolizing Viet Nam.

Reichelt, who in 2019 donated more than 1,200 film negatives of Viet Nam from the 1990s to the Vietnamese Government, contributed several works that reflect the nation’s transformation in the early years following the Doi Moi reform and at the time of German reunification.

According to Ngo Tuan Phong, Deputy Director of Viet Nam’s Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, the event provides an authentic portrayal of a nation entering a new era. He expressed hopes that the exhibition would strengthen cultural ties and offer German audiences, including the Vietnamese community, a deeper understanding of Viet Nam.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh praised the artistic and historical depth of the works, underscoring the importance of merging perspectives from both nations in a single collection.

Marking not only five decades of bilateral relations but also the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s independence and the 35th anniversary of German reunification, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam has donated the full exhibition to the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, ensuring its continued presence in future cultural and diplomatic events.
