The Robotic Education as Tool of Cultural Diplomacy

Dr. Raúl Rojas González delivered to Amb. Of Mexico R. Granguillhome, an educational package to teach robotics and artificial intelligence in Mexico

It is Dr. Raúl Rojas González, a leading Mexican scientist who heads the autonomous car research laboratory of the FU Berlin and winner of the National Science and Arts Award 2015 from the Government of Mexico, to deliver the Mexican Ambassador of Germany, Rogelio Granguillhome, an educational package to teach robotics and artificial intelligence in Mexico.

The three large-scale autonomous cars included into the educational package will be donated to the artificial intelligence consortium coordinated by the Center for Mathematics Research (CIMAT) based in Mexico. Under the patronage of the Volkswagen group, such cars were made by the Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence of the Free University of Berlin, led by Dr. Rojas. In addition to this, The National Science and Technology Council (CONACyT) is supporting a further production of 20 large-scale autonomous vehicles that will be used to teach programming seminars at 23 universities in Mexico through the CIMAT and the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC).

Furthermore, the collaboration between the Free University of Berlin, CIMAT, CONACYT and AMC is the result of the strong work between Germany and Mexico, it is a pillar of scientific cooperation between the two countries.
