H.E. Mr. Do Minh Hung
Do Minh Hung is a Vietnamese career diplomat. Born in Hanoi in 1967, he studied international relations and completed postgraduate studies in political science, diplomacy and international trade in the United Kingdom and Australia. His career has included assignments at the United Nations in Geneva, Vietnam's mission to Belgium and the EU, service as Ambassador to Israel, and senior leadership in the Foreign Ministry's Europe Department before his London appointment.
History
Bilateral ties between Vietnam and the United Kingdom are structurally massive, deeply cordial, and progressive, entering a historic renaissance following the elevation of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The embassy operates out of a highly active, independent chancery building at 12-14 Victoria Road in South Kensington—a building famously designed in 1959 by Ngo Viet Thu, the preeminent modernist architect of Vietnam—while maintaining a dedicated Commercial Section on Campden Hill Road in Holland Park.
The Embassy of Vietnam in London functions as a high-powered operational command center executing advanced post-Brexit free-trade implementation, green energy transit statecraft, and industrial manufacturing supply-chain integration between Hanoi and Whitehall. Under Ambassador Hung’s direct guidance, a paramount structural priority of the mission centers on fully operationalizing the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) and maximizing opportunities stemming from the UK's accession to the CPTPP. Furthermore, the embassy drives extensive public and civic statecraft—serving as the Honorary President of the Vietnam-UK Network to deepen grassroots ties—while its heavily utilized consular division handles streamlined digitized passport updates, entry visa tracking, and civil protections to support the thriving Vietnamese corporate, professional, and student diaspora community residing across the British Isles.
