The Embassy of the Czech Republic in London partners with the International Film Festival Women and the World
Highlighting women’s roles in conflict and peacebuilding
December 02nd, 2025On the 6-12th of November the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London partnered with the International Film Festival Women and the World. IFFWW is a prestigious event held in London dedicated to highlight the experiences of women in conflict zones and recognize their vital role in peacebuilding, security, and social resilience.
This year’s theme, “Peace Strategies: Women as Agents of Global Security,” emphasized how women influence peace processes, strengthen communities, and advocate for justice in regions affected by war. As part of its contribution to the festival, the Czech Embassy hosted several screenings, discussions, and networking sessions that brought together filmmakers, journalists, diplomats, and civil society representatives.
The even brought together leading voices in media, cinema, and activism to celebrate the resilience and creativity of women across the world. The festival provided a platform for stories from both active conflict regions like Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Syria and countries with experience in post-war reconstruction, including the Czech Republic, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. These narratives reveal the profound impact women have as soldiers, peace negotiators, human rights defenders, community leaders, and agents of recovery.
The festival’s programme included an international film competition, screenings of fiction and documentary films, short films, and frontline television reports submitted by female journalists. Interactive art exhibitions, industry masterclasses, ambassador-led discussions, networking events, and an official awards ceremony all contributed to a rich and engaging cultural experience. The event was organized by Talented U, a London-based non-profit established to helping Ukrainian refugees to integrate into the British media industry through networking opportunities, learning programmes, and career support.
The festival opened with remarks by Lady Sophie Windsor and welcomed both the Czech and Ukrainian Ambassadors, underscoring its growing diplomatic and cultural significance. By merging art, diplomacy, and activism, it offers a powerful platform for dialogue and inspires new strategies for peace in a world still marked by conflict.
