Naimi Hamza Aziz

Born on January 12, 1966, she is single and has one child.

In 1986, she graduated from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, New Delhi, India, with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Political Science. She later earned a Master of Arts Degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, in 1997.

From 2021 to August 2023, she served as the Director of the Africa Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.

Between August 2013 and March 2020, she was the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. She also served as the Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. During this period, she was additionally accredited as a non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Djibouti and the Republic of Yemen.

From May 2012 to July 2013, she was the Director in the Department of Regional Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Her earlier roles include serving as Assistant Director in the Southern and East Asia Section of the Asia and Australasia Department from June 2010 to May 2012. Prior to that, from July 2006 to September 2007, she was Head of Section in the Middle East Department.

As a First Secretary, she was stationed at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Belgium, covering the Kingdom of Belgium, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as well as the Mission to the European Union. She was also responsible for African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Affairs during this time.

From April 2000 to June 2006, she served in Belgium, where she was promoted through various positions, eventually reaching the rank of First Counselor. From 2007 to 2010, she was appointed Personal Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. Additionally,

she served as the First Secretary of the Workers' Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from 2007 to 2008.
