The Embassy of Sweden in Berlin cordially invites all to a talk on the documentary power of comic books with the comic authors Ulli Lust and Fabian Göransson.

On June 17, 2019, the Swedish Embassy will host an event in cooperation with the German Comics Association that aims to answer common questions surrounding the creation and characteristics of non-fictional comics. The comic book authors Ulli Lust and Fabian Göransson will discuss how and to what extent comics can actually document events, and what comic books can achieve better than other forms of media productions when it comes to their documentary power.

The event, which is co-hosted by the Swedish Embassy in Berlin and the German Comics Association, is part of the accompanying program of the current exhibition “SIE Kommen! … mit neuen Comics aus Schweden” at the Nordic Embassies. The exhibition is on display until June 19, 2019, and features Swedish comics with a special focus on female comic characters.

The special guests of the event, Ulli Lust, an Austrian comic illustrator, and Fabian Göransson, a Swedish comic book author, have recently published their new comic books “Wie ich versuchte, ein guter Mensch zu sein" (Ulli Lust) and “Drömmen om Europa" (Fabian Göransson).

The talk with Ulli Lust and Fabian Göransson will take place on Monday, June 17, from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Swedish Embassy, which is located in Rauchstraße 1 in 10787 Berlin. The entry is free and no prior registration is required. The talk will be held in English and moderated by Augusto Paim from the University of Weimar. After the event, visitors will have the opportunity to ask Ulli Lust and Fabian Göransson to sign copies of their comic books.
