Amb. Cheikh Wade

H.E. General Cheikh Wade is a distinguished Senegalese diplomat and retired military officer, currently serving as Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Senegal to the United Kingdom.

He joined the Senegalese Armed Forces in 1983 and built a long and received advanced military education, including training at the Royal Military Academy of Meknès in Morocco, the École supérieure de Guerre in Paris, as well as additional professional courses in the United States, Ghana, and Kenya. Over his military career, Wade held several high-level posts: he was Chief of the Commandos Battalion, head of operations in the Army’s General Staff, and eventually Chief of General Staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces. He also participated in several international missions: he was an observer with UNIKOM, a military planner with the African Union via UNOAU and part of operations supporting the African Union mission in Somalia.

Transitioning from military service to diplomacy, General Wade was appointed as Senegal’s ambassador to the UK in July 2023.
