Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Austria
H.E. Muhammad Abdul Ahad is a career Pakistani diplomat with extensive experience in bilateral relations, economic diplomacy, and multilateral affairs. He serves as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Austria, as well as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna.
Prior to his appointment to Austria, Ambassador Abdul Ahad held several diplomatic positions within Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing Pakistan in bilateral and multilateral forums. His diplomatic work has focused on strengthening political dialogue, economic cooperation, and Pakistan’s engagement with international institutions. During his tenure in Vienna, he has emphasized cooperation with Austria in trade, education, science and technology, and people-to-people relations.
History
Austria and Pakistan established diplomatic relations in 1950. Pakistan maintains an embassy in Vienna, which also serves as its Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations. Bilateral relations focus on trade, development cooperation, education, science, and multilateral diplomacy. Austria and Pakistan maintain regular political consultations and cooperate on issues discussed within the UN and the IAEA.
