H.E. Ambassador Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu is an exceptionally senior, heavy-hitting veteran career diplomat and international strategist who stands at the absolute vanguard of Nigeria’s global statecraft. Hailing from Jigawa State, he possesses a formidable multi-decade pedigree within the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expertly mastering complex cross-border trade negotiations, political risk management, and bilateral economic synchronization.
Before his elite deployment to the Court of St James's, Ambassador Dalhatu served as Nigeria’s chief envoy to the Republic of Korea (South Korea), where he built an outstanding track record facilitating deep technological transfers, automotive supply-chain integrations, and massive industrial partnerships.
Recognized by the presidency for his flawless executive capabilities and deep administrative intelligence, he was strategically nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to guide Nigeria's premier diplomatic post in Western Europe. He formally took command of the Northumberland Avenue mission in early 2026, officially presenting his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Charles III at St James's Palace on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. History
Bilateral ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom are historically monumental, culturally profound, and deeply strategic, formalizing upon Nigeria's independence within the Commonwealth in 1960. The High Commission commands an iconic, sprawling independent chancery complex located at 9 Northumberland Avenue, sitting moments from Trafalgar Square in the absolute political heart of London.
The High Commission functions as a powerhouse operational command center for executing advanced trade diplomacy, security synchronization, and diaspora economic integration between Abuja and Whitehall. Under High Commissioner Dalhatu’s proactive leadership, a primary structural mandate of the mission centers on leveraging the monumental momentum generated by President Tinubu's historic State Visit to Windsor Castle. The embassy works seamlessly with the City of London financial institutions and the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce to capitalize on record-high bilateral trade volumes, funneling heavy British institutional investment into Nigeria’s surging financial technology corridors, agricultural processing systems, and green infrastructure grids.
