The Ambassador
Vasco Mushe Samupofu
Born on May 4, 1967, he has had a distinguished career in diplomacy and international relations.
He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Politics at the University of Namibia from 1988 to 1990. Later, he pursued a Diploma in Diplomatic Practice at the Indian Institute of Foreign Service (IIFS) from February to December 1995.
Since June 2023, he has been serving as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Namibia to the Federal Republic of Austria.
From January 2019 to April 30, 2023, he held the position of Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the High Commission of the Republic of Namibia in Pretoria, South Africa.
Before that, from May 2016 to December 2018, he was the Deputy Director and Head of Regional Organizations in the Department of Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation.
From August 2012 to May 2016, he worked as a Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Namibia to the United Nations, where he was responsible for the United Nations General Assembly’s Second Committee.
Between July 2011 and July 2012, he served as Chief Foreign Relations Officer at the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation.
His earlier roles include serving as First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in Cairo, Egypt, from June 2007 to May 2011, and as First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in Washington, DC, from October 1999 to November 2003.
He joined the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation in October 1991 and initially worked as a Senior Taxation Officer at the Ministry of Finance in Namibia, focusing on individual and business tax assessments from February 1991.
He has undertaken various special assignments, including representing Namibia in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Oversight Committee (OC) to the Kingdom of Lesotho from October 2017 to March 2019.
He was also involved in several electoral observation missions: as a member of the SADC Electoral Observation Mission for the National Assembly Election in the Kingdom of Lesotho in July 2017, the General Election in Angola in August 2017, and the National Assembly Election in the Seychelles in September 2016. Additionally, he contributed to the Harmonized Election in Zimbabwe in July 2018.
