The Ambassador
Amb. Ms. Josefa González Blanco Ortiz Mena

She also serves as Mexico’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization; the International Mobile Satellite Organization; the International Coffee Organization; the International Sugar Organization; and the International Whaling Commission; as well as to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds). Josefa González Blanco Ortiz Mena began her tenure as head of Mexico’s diplomatic representation in London on April 23, 2021, with the presentation to the British Foreign Office of the copy of the Letters of Credence accrediting her as Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Ambassador González Blanco holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad Anáhuac and a Master’s degree in Transformative Arts from John F. Kennedy University. She has completed various academic stays at the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies in Paris, France.
She served as Mexico’s Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources and has had a long career promoting social and cultural programs, both in Mexico and the United Kingdom, as well as environmental protection and wildlife conservation programs.
She was a professor of comparative legal systems at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and at the University of Monterrey (UDEM) and served as Administrative Secretary of the Graduate Program at UNAM’s Law School.
