Amb. Rajeshwar Jeetah
H.E. Dr. Rajeshwar Jeetah holds a BSc (Hons) and a PhD in Textile Technology from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). He has also been a research fellow at the University of Cambridge.
Before his diplomatic appointment, Jeetah had a long career in Mauritian politics and public service. He was first elected to the National Assembly in 2003. Over the years, he held several ministerial positions: he was Minister of Industry, Small & Medium Enterprises, Commerce & Cooperatives (2005–2008), then Minister of Health and Quality of Life (2008–2010), and subsequently Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research, and Technology (2010–2014).
His appointment as High Commissioner to London marks his transition from national politics into diplomacy. As High Commissioner, he now represents Mauritius in the UK, leveraging his experience in education, science, and research to deepen bilateral ties.
