The Ambassador
H.E. Nasser Abdullah Al-Hayen
H.E. Nasser Abdullah Al-Hayen is a Kuwaiti diplomat who has represented Kuwait in Austria since his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna. He has extensive experience in international diplomacy, particularly in multilateral affairs and Kuwait’s engagement with international organizations.
Before his appointment to Vienna, Ambassador Al-Hayen held senior positions within Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including roles related to international organizations and diplomatic coordination. His mandate in Austria focuses on strengthening Kuwait–Austria relations, particularly in the areas of investment, energy cooperation, trade, and political dialogue. Vienna’s role as a centre for international organizations, including OPEC, also provides an important platform for Kuwait’s diplomatic engagement.
History
Austria and Kuwait established diplomatic relations in 1965. Kuwait maintains an embassy in Vienna and a Permanent Mission to the United Nations. Bilateral relations are characterised by close economic cooperation, particularly in investment, finance, and energy. Political dialogue has expanded through regular high-level visits, while cooperation also includes culture, education, and healthcare.
