Bader Abdullah N M Alumayekh is a Kuwaiti career diplomat with previous ambassadorial experience in the Middle East. Before his London appointment, he served as Kuwait's Ambassador to Iran. His work in the United Kingdom covers political relations, investment, security cooperation and Kuwait's extensive economic links with Britain.
History
Bilateral relations between Kuwait and the United Kingdom are profoundly historic, elite, and seamless, anchored by an enduring 125-year legacy of fraternal friendship and close institutional bonds between the British Royal Family and the House of Al-Sabah. The embassy commands a magnificent, palatial landmark mansion perfectly positioned at 2 Albert Gate in Knightsbridge, standing at the grand entrance to Hyde Park. The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in London serves as a premier, high-velocity operational command post for executing sovereign energy statecraft, multi-billion-pound investment management, and Gulf security coordination between Kuwait City and Whitehall. Under Ambassador Almunayekh’s specialized multilateral and financial background, a core mandate of the mission is overseeing and optimizing Kuwait's monumental global financial footprint.
Crucially, London houses the Kuwait Investment Office (KIO), established in 1953 as the world’s very first sovereign wealth fund. Operating as the sole international investment arm of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), the KIO manages vast European and global operations out of the British capital.
