The Ambassador
Amb. Seyed Ali Mousavi
Seyed Ali Mousavi, Iran's ambassador to the United Kingdom, is a career diplomat with a strong background in international legal and diplomatic affairs. His career has been marked by various roles both in Tehran and in key diplomatic missions abroad.
Mousavi's diplomatic career has primarily focused on the realm of international law. Before his current appointment, he held the position of Director General of the International Legal Department at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His previous experience also includes a role as Legal and International Advisor at the Iranian Embassy in London, providing him with early knowledge of the British diplomatic environment. Furthermore, he served as First Secretary at the Iranian Embassy in Moscow and as a Legal Studies Specialist at Iran's Center for Political and International Studies.Seyed Ali Mousavi formally assumed the position of Ambassador of Iran to the United Kingdom in February 2025, presenting his credentials to King Charles III in June of the same year. Concurrent with his role as ambassador, he also serves as Iran's Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), headquartered in London, a position for which he presented his credentials in March 2025.
