Amb. Dr. Desra Percaya

The Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom is His Excellency Dr Desra Percaya, a seasoned career diplomat who assumed the post in October 2020. He also holds the title of Ambassador to Ireland and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Dr Percaya has strong ties to the UK, where he earned both his Master's degree from the University of Birmingham and a PhD in Politics from Durham University in 2000.

Before his current role, he held several high-ranking positions, including the Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York, and Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva. He also served as the Foreign Ministry spokesperson and Director-General for Asia, Pacific and Africa affairs.

Born in East Java, Dr Percaya is married and enjoys English Premier League football and playing the saxophone in his spare time. He views his current posting as a "homecoming" due to his previous time studying in the UK.

Dr Percaya has been actively involved in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in education, trade, and cultural exchange, and has been praised for his commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation.
