The Embassy of India in Germany hosts Key Meeting on Indo-German Scientific Cooperation

Scientific leaders discuss enhanced collaboration in photon science and technology

The Embassy of India in Berlin recently hosted an important meeting aimed at strengthening scientific ties between India and Germany. The meeting brought together key figures from both countries to discuss the future of cooperation in photon science, particle physics, and accelerator technologies.

Leading the Indian delegation was Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. On the German side, Prof. Franz Kaertner, Interim Director of the Photon Science Division at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), played a pivotal role. The gathering was welcomed by Chargé d'Affaires, Mr. B. S. Mubarak, who highlighted the essential role that scientific partnerships play in fostering innovation and technological advancement.

Dr. Ramanuj Banerjee, the Science Counsellor at the Indian Embassy, provided an overview of the current status of Indo-German scientific collaboration at DESY, reinforcing the value of joint efforts in advancing research. The discussions centered around enhancing collaboration between the two countries, particularly in cutting-edge fields such as photon science and accelerator technologies.

Further strengthening bilateral relations, the delegation also met with Jens Brandenburg, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This meeting emphasized the commitment to deepening scientific cooperation and exploring new avenues for joint research, underscoring the shared dedication to driving innovation in both nations.
