The Embassy of India hosted a free yoga course on its premises on April 18, 2023, at 18:00 hours. The event welcomed 200 guests who were able to discover this unique aspect of Indian culture.

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India and aims to control the mind and recognize a detached consciousness through physical, mental, and spiritual practices. There is a wide range of practices and goals in yoga, and it is debated whether it originated in the Vedic period or is a synthesis of non-Vedic and Vedic elements. Yoga is now practiced worldwide, with a focus on physical fitness and relaxation through postures in the West, while traditional yoga emphasizes meditation and detachment from worldly attachments.

The event was co-organized by the Art of Living Foundation (AOLF), a non-profit organization founded in 1981 by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a well-known humanitarian and spiritual teacher. AOLF operates in 180 countries and is dedicated to promoting education, humanitarianism, and stress-free living. All of AOLF's programs are guided by Sri Sri's philosophy that peace cannot be achieved without a stress-free mind and a violence-free society. The organization is inclusive, welcoming people of all backgrounds, religious orientations, and walks of life.

The AOLF community is diverse and known for its inclusiveness, making it a welcoming environment for anyone seeking personal growth and development. Through its various programs and initiatives, AOLF has helped numerous individuals achieve greater well-being and a deeper sense of purpose. As a non-profit organization, AOLF remains committed to its mission of promoting peace, happiness, and well-being for all.

Overall, the course was a success and left a lasting impression on the attendees, who left with a newfound appreciation for the beauty and significance of Indian Yoga.
