Amb. Mr. Ivan Romero Martinez

His Excellency Mr. Iván Romero Martínez is a career diplomat of the Republic of Honduras, currently serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Honduras to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, based in London.

He has more than 50 years of experience in the foreign service, having held diplomatic assignments in Spain, Egypt, Morocco, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Belgium, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, and the UK, as well as with the United Nations and the Organization of American States.

Ambassador Romero Martínez also represents Honduras at the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and has held leadership roles there, including being elected Chair of the International Coffee Council for 2021/22.

He earned a Law and Social Sciences degree from the National University of Honduras and holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Catholic University of Santo Domingo, with postgraduate studies in international law, European integration, and international trade.

In recognition of his long service, in 2023 he was awarded the honorary title of “Freeman” of the City of London.
