Amb. Dr Rajendra Singh

H.E. Dr. Rajendra Singh is the current High Commissioner of Guyana to the United Kingdom since 2022.

Singh pursued all of his higher education in the United States, completing undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies before returning home. Before entering diplomacy, in 1975 he begin his public-service path at the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo).

Dr. Singh is known for having strong ties to Guyanese public service and the private sector, and for advocating a balanced, sustainable development approach, combining Guyana’s resource-based growth (especially in energy) with environmental and social goals. He built a long and diverse career that spanned labour relations, higher-education leadership, and executive roles in Guyana’s largest state-owned enterprise.

As High Commissioner, his work in the UK centres on strengthening trade, attracting strategic investment, and deepening cooperation in education, technology, infrastructure, and renewable energy. In addition to his London posting, Dr. Singh also serves as Guyana’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, where he represents the country’s interests in global education, science, and culture.
