Amb. Papa Owusu-Ankomah

H.E. Papa Owusu-Ankomah is a distinguished lawyer, politician, and diplomat with a long history of public service. He attended Mfantsipim School for his secondary education and earned an LL.B (Hons, Second Class Upper) from the University of Ghana, Legon, before completing professional legal training at the Ghana School of Law, where he was called to the Bar in 1981.

Owusu-Ankomah served as Member of Parliament for Sekondi from 1997 to 2017, during which he held multiple ministerial positions under President John Agyekum Kufuor. These included Deputy Majority Leader, Minister for Youth and Sports, Majority Leader & Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Attorney General & Minister for Justice, Minister for Interior, Minister for Education, Science & Sports, and Minister for Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development & Presidential Special Initiatives.

In 2017, Owusu-Ankomah was appointed High Commissioner of Ghana to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, a role in which he strengthened bilateral relations, promoted trade and investment, and engaged with the Ghanaian diaspora.
