H.E. Mr. Ndolamb Ngokwey
H.E. Mr. Ndolamb Ngokwey is an eminent Congolese diplomat, scholar, and senior international civil servant. He assumed his strategic role at the head of the London mission bringing a unique, multi-decade background in global peacekeeping, humanitarian architecture, and socio-anthropological systems design.
Ambassador Ngokwey holds an impressive academic foundation, including a PhD in Social Anthropology and a Master's in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He dedicated a landmark portion of his career to the United Nations, climbing the ranks of UNICEF as a Programme Officer and Representative across various critical stations in the 1990s, followed by deployments across the Caribbean, West Africa, and New York. He subsequently served with high distinction as the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Mozambique(starting in 2006) and later in Côte d'Ivoire. Prior to his ambassadorial deployment to Great Britain, he operated at the absolute center of Congolese state planning, serving as Special Advisor to the President of the Republic during President Félix Tshisekedi's tenure as Chairperson of the African Union—overseeing sweeping strategic portfolios encompassing climate change, healthcare, and food security.
History
Bilateral ties between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the United Kingdom are highly consequential, deeply anchored by joint focus areas in sustainable ecological management, international mining transparency, and regional security synchronization.
The Embassy of the DRC in Marylebone operates as the central command node for executing green-resource statecraft and diaspora development networks between Kinshasa and Whitehall. Geopolitically, the mission is heavily focused on raising international awareness and securing British diplomatic support regarding the humanitarian and security situation in Eastern Congo, particularly as it intersects with global critical minerals supply chains. Under Ambassador Ngokwey’s authoritative leadership, a major contemporary pillar of the mission is driving post-Brexit economic statecraft, working actively with corporate clusters like the Westminster Africa Business Association to expand direct British investment into the DRC's infrastructure, renewable energy, and agricultural sectors. Concurrently, the embassy maintains an active, grass-roots interface with the highly vibrant and accomplished British-Congolese diaspora community, hosting cross-sector meetups for pastors, scholars, and corporate leaders to align diaspora expertise with home country development tracks.
