The Ambassador
H.E. Sinisa Bencun
H.E. Siniša Bencun is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Austria. He is a career diplomat with experience in European integration, international organisations, and bilateral relations. He has represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in several diplomatic capacities and has been involved in strengthening relations with European partners.
His work as ambassador focuses on further developing Bosnia and Herzegovina–Austria relations, particularly in political cooperation, economic ties, cultural exchange, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration efforts.
History
Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina established diplomatic relations in 1992, following Bosnia and Herzegovina’s independence. Austria has historically been one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s closest European partners, with strong political, economic, and social links.
Relations are considered very friendly, supported by significant Austrian investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, development cooperation, and extensive people-to-people connections. Austria has also supported Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration process and remains one of its important partners within the EU context.
