Amb. Mr. Olmer Torrejon Alcoba
H.E. Mr. Olmer Torrejón Alcoba serves as Minister-Counsellor and Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva. In this capacity, he leads the Mission's diplomatic work and represents Bolivia before Geneva-based United Nations bodies and international organizations. Mr. Torrejón Alcoba has represented Bolivia in numerous sessions of the UN Human Rights Council and other multilateral forums, delivering national statements and participating in negotiations on behalf of the Government of Bolivia. Official United Nations records indicate that he has served at Bolivia's Permanent Mission in Geneva for several years, including as Counsellor and later as Minister-Counsellor.
History
Bolivia is one of the founding members of the United Nations, having signed the UN Charter on 26 June 1945 and becoming an original UN Member State on 14 November 1945. Since then, Bolivia has maintained an active commitment to multilateral diplomacy, participating in the work of the United Nations on issues including sustainable development, indigenous peoples' rights, human rights, climate change, disarmament, and international cooperation.
The Permanent Mission of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva represents Bolivia before the United Nations Office at Geneva and the numerous specialized agencies and international organizations headquartered in the city. The Mission coordinates Bolivia's participation in Geneva-based bodies dealing with human rights, humanitarian affairs, health, labour, trade, migration, intellectual property, and other multilateral issues, while promoting the country's foreign policy priorities through international negotiations and cooperation.
