Amb. Dr. Bernhard Wrabetz
Bernhard Wrabetz is an Austrian career diplomat. He studied history and French at the University of Vienna and trained at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna before beginning his international career, which included work with UNDP in Mauritania. His diplomatic service has taken him to the United Nations in New York and to postings in London and Washington, as well as senior foreign-policy advisory roles in Vienna.
History
Austria maintains one of the most historically rich and physically constant diplomatic footprints in London, with a formal legation operating since 1677. Notably, 18 Belgrave Square is the only embassy building of the former Imperial and Royal Austro-Hungarian Foreign Service that is still owned and actively used by modern Austrian diplomacy today, having been continuously leased or owned since 1866.
