Ambassador Uran Ferizi combines diplomatic work with a background in finance and scientific research. Before taking up his post in London in January 2024, he worked in investment banking and on major infrastructure feasibility projects, and later pursued academic research in computer science and neuroscience. He holds a doctorate from University College London and has also conducted research in the United States.

History

Albania's diplomatic strategy in London is deeply defined by its geopolitical ambitions for swift integration into the European Union, its vital strategic partnership within NATO, and the active management of its significant diaspora community in the United Kingdom.

The Embassy of Albania in London acts as the primary instrument for cultivating security, judicial, and commercial statecraft between Tirana and Whitehall. Historically, the mission's core mandate has focused extensively on strengthening bilateral law enforcement and judicial cooperation to combat transnational crime, facilitating legal migration pathways, and attracting British investment into Albania's booming tourism, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Under Ambassador Ferizi's leadership, the embassy actively works to challenge media stereotypes regarding the Albanian community, fosters elite academic and cultural exchanges, and champions joint British-Albanian initiatives centered on cybersecurity, technological innovation, and Western Balkan regional stability.
