The Donation of the Bust of Alexander S. Pushkin to the Mikhailovskoye Museum-Reserve

The bust, which is an important contribution to the improvement of relations between Russia and Germany, will be inaugurated in Mikhailovsky on June 6, 2019, on the 220th anniversary of the birth of the great poet

On April 11, 2019, at 11:00am, at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Berlin, a solemn ceremony was hosted in order to donate the bust of the great Russian poet, Alexander Pushkin, to the Mikhailovskoye Museum-Reserve.

The sculpture was made by a well-known art casting company from the city of Lauchhammer according to the sketches designed by the Berlin artist, A. Schwartzbach, commissioned by the German Pushkin Society and the recently deceased businessman from the city of Potsdam, R.Opitz. The bust will be inaugurated in Mikhailovsky on June 6, 2019, on the 220th anniversary of the birth of the great poet.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Germany S.Yu.Nechaev, the employees of the Embassy, the members of the German Pushkin Society, the German-Russian Forum members, as well as the widow of Mr. Opitz, took part in the event.

In his welcoming speech, H. E. Ambassador S.Yu.Nechaev stressed the importance of Russian-German relations in the field of culture, declaring that it is incredibly important and necessary not only to strengthen the existing ties between the two countries, but also to build new bridges. The bust of A.S. Pushkin is perfect for this role, since his figure is part of the genetic code of all Russians.
