To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Nordic Embassies in Berlin, the group exhibition Summation brings together artworks from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, echoing Queen Margrethe II’s reflection on Nordic unity: “Each autonomous, and yet together.” The exhibition, curated by Margrét Áskelsdóttir, celebrates the interconnectedness and individuality of the Nordic nations, featuring works by artists such as A.K. Dolven, Jeppe Hein, Ragnar Kjartansson, and Hans Rosenström.

Summation explores themes of memory, emotion, and human nature, inviting visitors to reflect on their place in a collective society. Artworks include A.K. Dolven’s video I Hold Your Head in My Hands, capturing intimacy and support, and Jeppe Hein’s interactive piece Breathe with Me, which encourages viewers to contribute their “breath” to a visual representation of global unity. In Rosenström’s Once Apart, visitors are invited to connect physically, visually, and sonically, highlighting the bond between self and surroundings.

A distinctive feature of the exhibit is the Voices of Tomorrow project, where visitors leave messages on notecards, sealed away for 25 years as a testament to today’s collective hopes and visions.
