Strengthening Turkmen-Austrian Relations

Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Austria discuss continued collaboration in international organizations and future areas of partnership

On February 11, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met Gerhard Sailler, Deputy Director General for Political Affairs, Director of the Department for the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, Eastern Partnership, Türkiye and Central Asia, the Arctic of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria. The meeting took place at the Mnister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the consultation, the two sides discussed various areas of cooperation, including issues of political-diplomatic dialogue, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian partnerships. They praised the growing collaboration between the two countries, particularly within international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, and the UE.

It was established that the nations were willing to continue supporting one another's efforts in international organisations.

During these talks, it was acknowledged the importance of the Cooperation Program between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Austria for 2024-2025, which was the results of a previous meeting held in March 2024.Both sides expressed their commitment to continuing mutual support in international forums. 

The parties reaffirmed their willingness to further strengthen collaboration and identified areas of mutual benefit in light of the substantial potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation.
