Strengthening Bonds between German and Polish Senate Groups

In a meeting at the Federal Council, German and Polish senate groups underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. The discussions concentrated on historical connections and potential future collaborations, with particular focus on youth exchanges, economic relations, agriculture, science and transportation.

Manuela Schwesig, as the Federal Council President, expressed gratitude for the visit of Polish delegates from the Polish Senate to the Federal Council. President Schwesig highlighted that Germany and Poland have been united by a friendship treaty for 33 years. Additionally, she noted that 20 years ago, on May 1, 2004, Poland joined the European Union alongside other Eastern European countries, strengthening Europe as a whole.

During the productive discussions at the Federal Council, both the German and Polish friendship groups focused on their shared history and future cooperation. Topics included the strengthening of youth exchanges, economic relations, agricultural collaboration, scientific partnerships and transportation links.

Youth exchange programs were noted as important for promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two countries. These initiatives are designed to establish enduring connections among young people, providing a basis for future cooperation.

Economic relations between Germany and Poland are well-established, with both countries benefiting from strong trade and investment ties.
