Berlin’s Nordic Embassies invites visitors into the vibrant, poetic realms of Nordic children’s literature. Bringing together the work of 13 illustrators from Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Åland, the exhibition celebrates both timeless classics and contemporary creations that have shaped imaginations across generations.

From the beloved Moomins to witty goats, quirky monsters and flying buses, the show unfolds like a journey through enchanted landscapes and playful narratives. Beyond the visual feast, visitors are welcomed into a cozy reading corner stocked with a wide selection of Nordic children’s books.

Special events enrich the exhibition’s atmosphere: a Nordic children’s film day on September 7, 2025, and a family day with workshops, picture book cinema, and interactive activities on September 14. Between August 11 and 29, a curated book table at Dussmann offers an additional chance to explore the literature behind the art.

Following a tradition of cultural showcases that highlight the richness and diversity of Northern creativity, Small but Mighty offers a unique opportunity to see how illustration can bridge the gap between visual art and storytelling. The exhibition runs until October 5, 2025, with free admission, making it an inviting stop for families, art lovers, and anyone ready to be transported into the worlds of Nordic imagination.
