On October 22, 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin hosted a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). The event, held on the eve of the anniversary on October 23, was led by the Thai Ambassador and attended by officials from Team Thailand, embassy staff, and their spouses. The wreath-laying ceremony paid homage to the late king’s monumental contributions to the relationship between Thailand and Germany.

The ceremony highlighted King Chulalongkorn’s role in establishing the foundation of Thai-German relations. His visits to Germany in 1897 and 1907 were pivotal in fostering strong bilateral ties. By engaging with German experts and learning from their innovations, King Chulalongkorn set the stage for cooperation in areas such as economics, culture, and academia that continue to thrive today.

During the event, the Ambassador underscored the king's legacy, emphasizing the lasting impact of his diplomacy and vision. The inclusion of government officials and key representatives from Thailand’s diplomatic offices underlined the significance of the ceremony in reinforcing ongoing partnerships between the two nations.
