Romanian Cultural Institute Berlin and Embassy of Romania in Germany Host Networking Evening at Berlinale
Romanian Cultural Institute and Embassy of Romania organise Berlinale networking event
February 26th, 2026On 17 February 2026, the Romanian Cultural Institute “Titu Maiorescu” Berlin, in cooperation with the Embassy of Romania in the Federal Republic of Germany, welcomed filmmakers, producers, actors, distributors, artists, and distinguished guests to a networking evening held during the Berlin International Film Festival. The event marked the opening of Playlab #2: Love, Fear, and Other Rituals, as the Institute’s gallery was transformed into a Romanian Film & Art Lounge designed as a platform for professional dialogue, exchange, and new collaborations, thereby contributing to cultural diplomacy through creative engagement and international networking.
The evening began with the sound performance Sans l’Ours by French-Romanian artist Stefania Becheanu. The performance explored themes of ritual, voice, and collective memory, setting a reflective atmosphere and encouraging interaction among participants. It provided a creative and symbolic framework that connected artistic expression with contemporary cultural dialogue, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the programme and its focus on shared cultural narratives.
Amid the intensity of the festival, the gathering created a dynamic and engaged environment. Filmmakers and actors involved in this year’s Romanian productions, together with cultural professionals and invited guests, exchanged ideas and perspectives across artistic and professional fields. The event strengthened professional connections and supported the international visibility of Romanian cinema within one of the most prominent global film industry platforms.
Playlab #2: Love, Fear, and Other Rituals will continue until 6 March 2026 at Reinhardtstraße 14 in Berlin-Mitte, with further events scheduled throughout the programme. The initiative contributes to positioning Romanian contemporary film and artistic practice within broader European and international frameworks, while fostering cooperation with partners from Germany and beyond.
Through this format, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Embassy of Romania in Germany promote cultural diplomacy by facilitating dialogue between cultural sectors, enhancing bilateral cultural relations, and creating long-term opportunities for professional collaboration. Such initiatives underline the strategic role of creative industries in strengthening cultural exchange, expanding networks, and supporting the international presence of Romanian artists.
