The Philippine Ambassador to Germany, Theresa Dizon-De Vega took part in the opening of Culture Night in Osnabrück. The Culture Night was organized by the municipality of Osnabrück, in collaboration with local cultural institutions.

The Philippine ambassador was invited to join the Lord Mayor of Osnabrück, Wolfgang Griesert and Bürgermeisterin Eva-Maria Westermann at the opening ceremony of the Cultural Night, on 31st August. The event is celebrated each year, to mark the end of the summer. Theresa Dizon-De Vega was the first Filipinos dignitary to officially visit Osnabrück. Her visit was a great opportunity not only to promote the Philippine culture, but also to strengthen the ties with the Filipino community living in Osnabrück. During the visit, she also had the chance to meet Ms. Maria Malaca, the proprietor of the top Spa-Wellness Center in the city, Mari-Jing Spa, as well as officials from Systemgastronomie, a leading company in the city.

The German-Filipino community were fully involved in the Cultural Night, participating with the free Hilot massage service, as well as bringing samples from Filipino cuisine and presenting traditional dance and clothing. The presence of the Filipino community at the event in addition to the Philippine ambassador Theresa Dizon-De Vega, proves Osnabrück’s reputation of being a city of peace and promoter of multicultural values.
