Pakistani Community in Vienna and Slovakia Marks 79th Independence & Marka-e-Haq Day
Celebration highlights national unity, historical legacy, and commitment to peace and prosperity
August 28th, 2025On the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence and Marka-e-Haq Day, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Pakistan in Vienna hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Mohammad Kamran Akhtar.
The program opened with the reading of special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of Pakistan, setting the tone for reflection and celebration. In his address, Ambassador Akhtar emphasized the profound historical significance of the day, underscoring its call for renewed national unity and a collective commitment to building an economically prosperous Pakistan.
The commemoration also reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast diplomatic support for the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for the right to self-determination, in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
The event drew wide participation from the Pakistani community living in Austria and Slovakia, who gathered to express their solidarity, patriotism and enduring connection to their homeland. For the diaspora, the ceremony served as both a remembrance of sacrifice and an affirmation of their role in advancing Pakistan’s vision for unity, peace and progress.
