Exchanges with Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder in Munich

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, met with the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder in Munich, as part of an invitation to visit the Free State of Bavaria.

During the visit, both leaders and their delegations exchanged views on various topics, including the enhancement of bilateral cooperation, regional partnerships, and joint efforts within the framework of the European Union.

The visit was an opportunity to explore Bavaria’s cultural heritage, as Albania’s Prime Minister was Guest of Honor at the prestigious Herrenchiemsee Festival. Prime Minister Rama highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy while expressing interest in Bavaria’s culture.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to “European culture, unity, and cohesion”. Germany and Albania place great importance on cultural and educational agreements. In Tirana, the Goethe-Zentrum offers German courses, while in addition to the German Embassy, organizes numerous cultural events. Currently, there are 25 higher education partnerships with German partner universities.

As both leaders reaffirmed the special relationship between Bavaria and Albania, the visit marked another step forward in Albania’s efforts to strengthen its ties with Germany by fostering strong connections with German regions such as Bavaria.
