The event, part of the monthly NZ-GER meetups and it is aimed at celebrating poetry, music and friendship in occasion of the Aotearoa New Zealand Poetry Day. Poets invited included the ones forming the performance group Sandra Sarala and Hans Kellett.

The Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day is a cultural New Zealand event held on the fourth Friday of each August since 1997. The event, in New Zealand, is aimed at facilitating artists and poets to expose people to their art, while promoting Kiwi culture. Therefore, it is clear why the New Zealand Embassy to Germany decided to host such event. In fact, the Poetry Day celebrations at the Embassy gave an outlet to Kiwi poets in Berlin for their art, while exposing Germans and Kiwis residing in Germany, other than nationals of many other countries, to the rich and diverse culture of New Zealand.

Among the poets invited were the poets forming Sandra Sarala, a spoken work group, and Hans Kellett, interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin. The event lasted from 8pm to 11pm, and it welcomed a wide range of guests, curious to experience the Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day. The venue hosting the celebrations, namely the Z-bar, is known in Berlin for hosting a variety of international cultural events, and it was therefore an excellent location for the intercultural dialogue that took place at the event. Biscuits were offered throughout the night and admission was donation-based.
