Nana Oye Bampoe Addo Celebrates Ghanaian Diaspora and Cultural Heritage in Vienna
Event highlighted tradition, unity, and leadership within the Ghanaian community in Austria
August 25th, 2025At a special event held at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna, Austria, on June 14, 2025, during the margins of the First Resumed Sixteenth Session of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Review Group and the Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption, Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo addressed the Ghanaian diaspora and distinguished guests, celebrating the enstoolment of the Vienna Hemaa (Gyaase Hemaa) and Adonten Hemaa of Austria.
Hon. Bampoe Addo congratulated Asanteman Austria and the newly enstooled Hemaa, stressing the importance of leadership, unity, and service in Ghanaian tradition. She urged members of the diaspora to maintain solidarity, support one another, and contribute to development initiatives. She also called on Ghanaian youth abroad to embrace their cultural heritage while looking toward the future with ambition and dedication to service.
Commending the Asanteman Austria Executive Council and Ghana’s Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, Hon. Bampoe Addo praised their commitment to fostering community and cultural continuity. She reminded participants that Ghanaian values — respect for tradition, unity in diversity, and the pursuit of excellence — remain essential for diaspora engagement.
Ambassador Osei-Agyeman further emphasized that Ghana’s constitution guarantees every citizen the right to enjoy, maintain, and promote cultural traditions, languages, and religions. She highlighted that chieftaincy is constitutionally protected as the custodian of customary values and norms, underscoring its recognized role in Ghanaian society.
The event also welcomed the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidency of Ghana, marking the occasion as a significant celebration of Ghanaian cultural heritage and diaspora unity in Austria.
