The Brazilian band Nação Zumbi will be performing a concert in Berlin the 23rd of July. The band is back in Berlin for the first time in 11 years. The concert takes place at the YAAM Berlin.
Nação Zumbi (formerly Chico Science & Nação Zumbi) is a Brazilian band formed by Chico Science. They have been hailed as one of the most important groups to come out of the mangue beat movement in the 1990s.
The musicians of the group continued as Nação Zumbi after Chico died in a car accident on February 2, 1997. In their songs, they experiment with mixing of rock, punk, funk, hip hop, soul, Pernambuco's regional rhythms and Brazilian traditional music, with heavy use of percussion instruments.
This concert has some beautiful Brazilian music and is a great chance to learn more about the Brazilian culture. Music from international artists is a great way of doing cultural diplomacy and introducing people to different cultures and different music styles.
