Music as a Bridge Between Cultures: The Divan Festival in Berlin
An open-air evening of global sounds, encounters and exchange at the Arab Cultural House
September 01st, 2025The Arab Cultural House – Divan will host the Festival of Music on Saturday, September 13, 2025, beginning at 16:30. The open-air event, free of charge, brings together diverse musical traditions and performance styles, offering audiences an evening of artistic exchange under the late summer sky.
Opening the program, the Student Orchestra of TU Berlin will present a vibrant repertoire that reflects both Western and Arab influences, embodying the energy of youth and cultural openness. They will be followed by MuAk Berlin, a platform for Korean traditional dance and percussion, whose colorful costumes and dynamic movements reinterpret folk heritage in a contemporary key.
At 18:20, the stage will welcome the Piano Trio led by Rolf Zielke, joined by cellist and vocalist Mathilde Vendramin. Their performance, weaving together jazz, classical echoes, and legendary songs from Santana, Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone, promises a deep, soulful reinterpretation across genres. The evening will close with the Begegnungschor Berlin, a community choir that embodies the spirit of encounter and dialogue, uniting voices from different cultural backgrounds.
By presenting such a varied lineup, the festival highlights how music transcends borders, becoming a shared language of connection. It invites Berlin audiences and international visitors alike to experience the interplay of tradition and innovation, East and West, collective energy and individual expression.
