The Ambassador

Amb. Zohour Alaoui

Amb. Zohour Alaoui was born on 14th January 1965, and is married with two children. She was appointed as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Federal Republic of Germany on 11th September 2019.
Alaoui is a graduate of a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University Washington D.C. and has a Bachelor of Public Law (Political Science Option) from the Mohammed V University, Rabat.
She started out her career as secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Washington, D.C. between 1987 and 1992. Until 1995, she worked as Office Manager to the Minister of Culture, then until 1997 as Head of the Department for Political Governmental Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Alaoui was the Head of the UN General Assembly and Security Council Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation between 1997 and 1999, Head of the United Nations Sub-Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (1999-2003), and Director of the Department of United Nations and International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (2003-2006).
She served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the King in Sweden and Non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia between 2006 and 2011, and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to UNESCO until 2019.

Morrocco and Germany have had established relations for more than two centuries. Cooperation between Germany and Morocco can rightly be described as exemplary and fruitful, and so in 2017 the embassy will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
