The celebration gathered around 100 Malaysians currently living, working, and studying in Germany, who dressed in traditional sarong and other cultural attire before boarding Berlin’s trains. The lively group paraded through the city while singing patriotic songs and sharing festive energy with the public. This creative form of celebration not only strengthened the sense of community among the Malaysian diaspora but also allowed Berliners and international commuters to experience a glimpse of Malaysia’s cultural heritage during their daily routines.

According to the Embassy, events such as Bahn Sarong are an important part of its cultural diplomacy efforts, providing an opportunity for Malaysians abroad to feel connected to their homeland while also promoting cultural understanding in Germany. The collaboration with MGSS and Locco highlighted the role of youth and diaspora organizations in keeping traditions alive, even far from home. The colourful display of sarongs, music, and unity transformed the ordinary commute into an extraordinary cultural encounter, symbolising Malaysia’s diversity and resilience.

The Embassy expressed its gratitude to all participants and supporters who contributed to the success of the event. Special recognition was given to the Malaysian-German Students Society and Locco for their organizational support and creativity in bringing this celebration to life. With the strong turnout and positive response, the Embassy confirmed that the Bahn Sarong will return in 2026, continuing to unite Malaysians in Germany and strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
